The 15th edition of the IPL is upon us with less than a week to go for the IPL 2022. Defending champions Chennai Super Kings will kick off the proceedings on March 26 at the Wankhede Stadium against the team they defeated in the final last year, Kolkata Knight Riders.
The IPL 2022 marks a watershed moment in the tournament’s history as two new teams – Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants – have been added making it a 10-team tournament for long term.
The fans have been buzzing on social media about their favourite teams and players. Among those, renowned sports anchor and commentator Preity Upala, having her Twitter handle @ThePreityEffect, also revealed her favourite players from each of the 10 franchises.
From the five-time champions, Mumbai Indians, Upala’s favourite player to watch out for is the dashing batsman Suryakumar Yadav, who is currently in supreme form. From the defending champions, CSK’s side, Upala will have her eyes on none other than skipper MS Dhoni.
The young, dynamic captain Rishabh Pant is Upala’s dearest cricketer from the Delhi Capitals franchise while it is the smart, wily off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin from the Rajasthan Royals who she will observe closely.
The two all-rounders Preity Upala is looking forward to seeing in action are mystery spinner Sunil Narine of Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad’s Washington Sundar, who is known for his tight bowling, especially in the powerplay.
The Royal Challengers Bangalore have a new skipper, Faf du Plessis, and the South African is Upala’s favourite player from the RCB franchise this season.
She will also be keeping a tab on the performances of a couple of star leg-spinners – Rashid Khan, who is the best T20 spinner in the world, will don the Gujarat Titans jersey, while young up-and-coming spinner Ravi Bishnoi, who is known for his sharp googly, will play for the Lucknow Super Giants.
The stylish diva also has one fast bowler as one of his favourite cricketers to watch out for in the IPL 2022 – Kagiso Rabada, who was acquired by the Punjab Kings.
