Renowned Indian politician Subramanian Swamy, just like millions, was left in awe of MS Dhoni on Thursday evening as the Chennai Super Kings talisman successfully completed yet another last over run-chase to take his side home versus arch-rivals Mumbai Indians at the DY Patil Stadium.
Set a target of 156, the defending champions found themselves struggling at 106-6 before Dhoni took up the pressure on himself to see off the run chase. With 16 runs needed off the last four balls, Dhoni smashed Jaydev Unadkat for 6, 4, 2, 4, taking CSK over the line and remaining unbeaten on 28 in just 13 balls. He was also well supported by Dwaine Pretorius, who scored 22 off 14, releasing off some pressure from Dhoni with two boundaries in the 19th over to Bumrah.
Subramanian Swamy, who is also a famed economist and statistician, took to Twitter to express the rush of emotions he felt as his “favourite cricketer” MS Dhoni did what he had done for the past decade-and-half for India and in the IPL. For Swamy, Dhoni in fact outdid himself this time.
“Yesterday night I kept awake to see if my favourite Cricketer Dhoni will do his usual magic. Never in my life including my years as a cricketer in school I saw such super magic as I saw last night. Dhoni outdid Dhoni!” Subramanian Swamy tweeted.

CSK skipper Ravindra Jadeja said until MS Dhoni was at the crease, they had the belief.
“We were very tense the way game was going. But the great finisher of the game was still there, so we knew we had a chance. He’s still here and doing it for us,” Jadeja said after the game.
Super Kings now have their second win of the tournament out of 7 matches. The playoff berth looks far at the moment, but as has been Dhoni’s mantra all his career, the defending champions will focus only on the next game instead of thinking too much about a playoffs spot.
