Having released a spate of players, including their captain Kane Williamson, the Sunrisers Hyderabad will enter the IPL 2023 mini-auction with the biggest purse – INR 42.2 crore – among all the 10 franchises.
The release of their captain Kane Williamson was triggered significantly by his heavy retained price of INR 14 crore, similar to the likes of Nicholas Pooran and Romario Shepherd.
Along with all-rounder Shepherd, SRH have also let go of a couple of other all-rounders in Jagadeesha Suchith and Sean Abbott.
SRH Retained Players: Rahul Tripathi, Glenn Phillips, Abhishek Sharma, Aiden Markram, Abdul Samad, Washington Sundar, Marco Jansen, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Umran Malik, T Natarajan, Kartik Tyagi, Fazalhaq Farooqi
SRH Released players: Kane Williamson, Nicholas Pooran, Jagadeesha Suchith, Priyam Garg, Ravikumar Samarth, Romario Shepherd, Saurabh Dubey, Sean Abbott, Shashank Singh, Shreyas Gopal, Sushant Mishra, Vishnu Vinod
SRH will splurge big money on these 3 all-rounders
It has been learned that SRH released several players to clear up their purse – which now is the largest of all franchises – to hard after all-rounders in the mini-auction; Ben Stokes, Sam Curran, and Cameron Green are going to be in high demand in the upcoming auction, and SRH are set to target them and will be desperate to bag at least one of the three.
An official working closely with SRH told InsideSport, “Team will gun for a BIG ALLROUNDER at IPL Auction. Yes, Green, Stokes & Curran kind players will be on radar. But our decision-making will be dependent on the fact that whether these players are available for full IPL Window or not.”
While Ben Stokes and Sam Curran are returning to the IPL after pulling out from last season while Cam Green will make his first appearance in the IPL auction.
Stokes had pulled out from IPL 2022 after taking up England’s Test captain while Curran was injured. Green stunned everyone with his blistering half-centuries against India while opening in a T20I series and was also drafted into Australia’s T20 World Cup squad.
