There are only a few days left for the Indian Premier League-2023 to begin. Meanwhile, some changes are being seen in the team in the last few days. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Sunday announced South African seamer Sisanda Magala will replace New Zealand seamer Kyle Jamieson in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season.
Due to injury, Jamieson will not be able to play in the league starting March 31, which was bought by CSK for one crore rupees. Magala has a lot of experience of playing in the shorter format of the game.
“Jamieson, who was ruled out of the tournament due to an injury, was bought by the franchise for INR 1 Crore. His replacement, Magala, has rich experience in the shortest format of the game. Though he has played just 4 T20Is for South Africa, Magala has a reputation for being a regular wicket-taker in domestic T20 games over the years. He will join CSK at his base price of INR 50 Lakh,” IPL said in a statement.
The 32-year-old Sisanda weighs more than 70 kilos, but despite having a heavy body, his game is powerful. Not only fast-paced but also many big shots in the lower order come in handy. Ever since he joined CSK, some of his old videos have gone viral on social media.
Sisanda Magala’s Numbers
Magala does have a wealth of expertise in the game’s shortest format, as stated in the IPL’s media advisory. With 127 games under his belt, he has 136 wickets taken at an 8.00 economy rate. He has taken three wickets in four international matches for South Africa, with an economy rate of 9.85. The 32-year-old pacer is regarded as one of the top death bowlers in South Africa’s domestic circuit.
Recent Performance:
Magala finished joint-fifth in the league with 14 wickets in the recently completed SA20 at an economy of 8.68. He will probably be included in the South African team travelling to The Netherlands and will arrive at CSK a little after the other SA players.
