IPL 2023: As the ongoing 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League is going on in full swing, on Friday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the much-awaited schedule and venues for the IPL 2023 playoffs and the summit clash.

The playoffs of the ongoing season are all set to take place from May 23 to May 26 and the final showdown will take place on May 28 across two cities in India.

The BCCI has also confirmed that the IPL 2023 final match will take place at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, which is the biggest cricket stadium in the world, having a seating capacity of 110,000 spectators. Inaugurated in 2020, the iconic stadium has already hosted several high-profile cricket matches. The stadium will also host the second qualifier on May 26.

Apart from the Narendra Modi Stadium, MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai will also host two important games. Chennai fans will have the opportunity to witness an IPL 2023 playoff game for the first time since 2019, as Qualifier 1 and Eliminator will take place on May 23 and May 24, respectively.

β€œThe playoffs and final will be played from 23rd May to 28th May 2023 in Chennai and Ahmedabad. The Qualifier 1 will be held on 23rd May at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium followed by the Eliminator on 24th May. The Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad will host Qualifier 2 and the TATA IPL final on 26th and 28th May respectively,” BCCI said in a statement.

May 24th – Eliminator (M.A Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai)

May 26th – Qualifier 2 (Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad)

May 28th – Final (Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad)

Scenario to reach the final:

On May 23, the first and second-placed teams will square off in Chennai. Whoever wins advances to the final, while the team that loses is relegated to Qualifier 2, where they’ll be given one more chance to advance.

On the other side, the third and fourth-placed teams will play one another in the Eliminator game on May 24 in Chennai, the winner of that game will face the losing team from Qualifier 1. The winner of this match will compete for the tournament’s grand prize, the IPL 2023 championship trophy, against the Qualifier 1 victors.
