IPL 2023: Suresh Raina Gave A New Name To MS Dhoni

MS Dhoni led the Chennai Super Kings to their fourth win of the ongoing IPL 2023 by defeating the Sunrisers Hyderabad by 7 wickets. CSK, who now have 4 wins in 6 matches, sit third on the points table.

After the match, as usual, a number of opposition players huddled around Mahendra Singh Dhoni to learn tricks and trades of the game from the legendary cricketer who himself attested this as the “last phase of my career”.

The youngsters fondly surround Mahendra Singh Dhoni like students do with their teachers. This prompted former CSK star Suresh Raina to give a new nickname to CSK’s Skipper, saying that the youngsters learn a lot in “Dhoni’s Pathshaala”.

“Yet another dominant performance by @ChennaiIPL! The lions have once again proven their mettle on the field. And post-match, the playground transformed into Dhoni’s Pathshaala @msdhoni, it’s always a masterclass when you learn from the best, isn’t it? #IPL2023 #CSKvsSRH,” Raina tweeted with a photo of  MS being encircled by SRH players.

Meanwhile, the 41-year-old CSK skipper has all but confirmed that this is going to be his last IPL season. A veteran of 240 IPL matches, Dhoni asserted that he’s “Definitely” getting old and is in the “last phase of my career”.

“[I am] Definitely old, you know, you can’t really shy away from that. Whatever said and done, it’s [the] last phase of my career,” he said at the post-match presentation on Friday in Chennai.

“However long I play, it’s very important to enjoy the IPL. After two years, it has been a case where they [the crowd] can come [and] enjoy the game. It’s a full house, they have the new stand, so it feels good to play here. And I said at the start of the tournament, we haven’t played in Chennai a lot, we have only played like six seasons. So it feels good to be here. They have given a lot of love and affection, and they always stay back to hear me out.”

CSK’s next match is against the Kolkata Knight Riders on Sunday at the Eden Gardens.
