Indian cricket’s governing body, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), has taken a bold move before the highly anticipated Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 auction. The luxurious city of Dubai will host this year’s IPL auction instead of the more traditional location of India. This radical change has generated a lot of interest and discussion among cricket followers.

The BCCI has selected Dubai to host the IPL 2024 auction, which will take place there from December 15 to 19. Since auctions for the IPL have always taken place in India, this move breaks with custom. The IPL auction will be preceded by the second Women’s Premier League (WPL) auction, which will be a first for the league. On December 9, in the heart of the United Arab Emirates, the WPL auction will take place in Delhi, setting the scene for a cricket spectacular.

Cricbuzz claims that the IPL teams have not yet received the formal news about the Dubai auction. The auction is expected to take place on either December 18 or 19, both of which are weekdays, according to reliable sources. After considering Istanbul as a possible destination for the auction last year, the decision was made to hold it in Kochi instead. While Dubai’s position is still up in the air, the franchises have been given advance notice of the city’s possible hosting, sparking interest and debate among fans and experts.

No player trades between IPL clubs have been reported as of yet, however, the trading season is still open. Cricket fans often anticipate major deals at the conclusion of every three-year cycle, particularly those involving higher-paid players who contributed less the previous season.

The BCCI has not yet given Women’s Premier League (WPL) franchise owners information about the upcoming auction. There has been talk of a possible February 2024 date for the Women’s Premier League. The league’s structure and organisation are further complicated by the fact that the Indian women’s cricket team has international matches scheduled till midway through January. The 2024 World Premier League structure remains an open subject. After its successful run in Mumbai last year, would it be held in just one place this time around, or will it be dispersed around the country? With so much up in the air, female cricket fans can’t wait for formal information about the next season.

The chairman of the IPL Governing Council, Arun Dhumal, has given his clear commitment that IPL 2024 will be held in India, despite the fact that it may conflict with the country’s General Elections. Since working with government officials and guaranteeing the security of the event has been a problem in the past, this choice is crucial.

“The IPL will be held in India next year. We will need time to make the schedule because it will be made after the Election Committee announces the dates of the general elections. We will have to see when the different states have their elections and will make the schedule accordingly. We will need to wait and will need to work with the government,” Dhumal had said.
