Ee Sala Cup Namde? – The Virat Kohli-starer Royal Challengers Bangalore has once again managed to disappoint their fans as they have faced a big setback in their journey in the ongoing 2024 edition of the Indian Premier League. RCB suffered a heavy defeat against SunRisers Hyderabad, giving away 287 runs with the ball, which is now the highest-ever total in the history of IPL.
RCB could only manage to score 262 runs in response, becoming the first-ever team in the history of IPL to chase down a total above 250 runs, however, it still wasn’t enough. All their efforts went in vain as bowling vulnerabilities were exposed once again.
It was RCB’s sixth defeat in the ongoing season. They have only managed to win just one game out of the 7 games they have played so far in the ongoing league. The team started their journey in IPL 2024 with a positive note, especially after their women’s team, captained by Smriti Mandhana, secured victory in the Women’s Premier League 2024. However, the Men’s team has once again failed to meet the expectations of the fans.
Can Royal Challengers Bangalore Still Qualify For IPL 2024?:

Royal Challengers Bangalore still has a ‘little’ chance to make it to the playoffs in the IPL 2024, however, now they can’t afford any more defeats in the ongoing season. With just 2 points from 7 games, RCB is currently sitting at the bottom of the points table.
The Faf du Plessis’ led side needs to aim for at least 16 points to secure a spot in the playoff. But looking at their current situation, this looks very challenging, especially with a 5-match losing streak and poor Net Run Rate (NRR).
What RCB Need To Do To Qualify For Playoffs?:
Bangalore’s head coach, Andy Flower, emphasized the importance of treating every remaining game as a knockout. To secure a playoff spot, RCB needs to win all their next 7 matches to reach 16 points. However, even that might not be sufficient if they’re tied with other teams, considering their poor Net Run Rate.
In previous IPL seasons with more than 8 teams, 16 points have been the minimum for playoffs. The Bangalore-side themselves missed out in 2013 despite reaching 16 points due to a lower Net Run Rate. It’s a tough road ahead for RCB, facing 4 former champions in their remaining 7 matches.
Just did a few calculations on my calculator to get the chances of RCB winning this IPL. Here is what I got. pic.twitter.com/u6TurAfwxj
