Rohan Jaitley, the president of the Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA), has stated that the administration might intervene if fans mistreat Hardik Pandya when Mumbai Indians face Delhi Capitals in Delhi during the current IPL season.
The recently appointed captain of Mumbai Indians has encountered hostility from fans at all the stadiums where his team has competed thus far.
As anticipated, the atmosphere in Mumbai wasn’t very positive due to the dissatisfaction among fans over the franchise’s decision to remove Rohit as captain. However, Hardik Pandya also encountered a hostile crowd in Ahmedabad and Hyderabad, which came as a surprise.
MI’s decision to remove Rohit Sharma as captain, considering his immense popularity as both a cricketer and the national team’s captain, has disappointed the fans and sparked controversy. This disappointment has been directed towards Hardik Pandya, who has been facing constant boos in the ongoing tournament.

DDCA President Announced Punishment For Fans Who Will Boo Hardik Pandy

The situation reached a critical point in Mumbai, prompting Sanjay Manjrekar to intervene and urge the crowd to maintain decorum during the toss. Looking ahead to the matches in Delhi, Rohan Jaitley has reassured that the DDCA is prepared to take action to prevent any mistreatment of the Mumbai Indians captain.
“See, there is a decision yet to be taken (in this regard) because till date in the last three years, I haven’t seen a situation where we’ve seen spectators or individuals — seeing the game — misbehave or be ill-mannered or chances of booing etc towards a participating team or players or individuals.
“It’s not something that we’ve experienced. It is not something that obviously we encourage. But if the need arises and if we do see a situation of this sort, then obviously an appropriate decision will be taken at that point in time,” he told IANS.
Talking about the team’s performance under the captaincy of Hardik Pandya, his tenure as Mumbai Indians captain has begun with disappointing results. The team has lost their first three matches under his leadership, putting them at the bottom of the points table. These defeats came against Gujarat Titans, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Rajasthan Royals.
The Mumbai Indians will aim to secure their first win of the tournament when they face Delhi Capitals next. The match is set to take place on Sunday, April 7th.
