Sunil Narine’s recent achievement has earned him a place among the greats of the Indian Premier League (IPL) history, alongside Sourav Ganguly and Gautam Gambhir. This remarkable milestone was reached at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata. In the IPL 2024 match between KKR and PBKS on Friday, April 26, the left-handed batsman effortlessly made his mark in the records. With just 27 runs needed to secure his spot in this prestigious group, Narine effortlessly achieved the milestone and continued his form with the bat.

Making it onto this prestigious list, he becomes the 10th batter to achieve this distinction at the iconic venue in the City of Joy. Narine has established himself as one of the IPL greats, joining the ranks of Ganguly, Gambhir, and other notable players like Robin Uthappa, Andre Russell, Yusuf Pathan, Dinesh Karthik, Nitish Rana, Manish Pandey, Jacques Kallis, and Chris Gayle.

And Narine’s achievement doesn’t end there. In addition, he achieved his highest number of runs in a single IPL season. In 2018, he scored a total of 357 runs from 16 games, with an average of 22.31. But let me tell you, this time, his performance has been absolutely incredible. Narine has been in great form this season, scoring 357 runs in just 8 games. His average of 44.62 reflects his improved performance and renewed explosiveness with the bat.

Under Gambhir’s leadership, Narine found himself at the top of the batting order for the first time in his career. Guess what? With Gambhir back as KKR’s mentor for IPL 2024, Narine has once again been given the important job of being the opener. His explosive performance demonstrates his knack for delivering even in high-pressure situations, giving rise to optimism for a fruitful campaign in the future. Gautam Gambhir has yet again opened the demon within Narine and he is firing with all guns blazing.
