IPL 2024: Ian Bishop Apologises For Taking A Dig On Virat Kohli In Commentary

While providing commentary, Ian Bishop mentioned Kohli’s relatively slow start to the inning. He pointed out to his fifty off 39 balls. This comment seemed to imply that Kohli’s pacing could use some improvement. But, Bishop decided to address the issue on Twitter and admit his mistake. He said sorry to a fan and admitted that he was wrong with his choice of word. Bishop acknowledged the importance of understanding T20 batting strategies and admitted to using imprecise language. He promised to work on his language and adjust to the requirements of the game format in upcoming matches.
I take an āLā on that one. I am very aware of what T20 batting entails, and my insertion of that word was inaccurate. My choice of words and language in keeping with the format of the game needs to be more accurate and it will be going forward. Apologies.
