With their team going really strong in IPL 2024, the SRH fans mocked CSK and their fans with a silent celebration, made famous by Pat Cummins, by doing the finger-on-lips gesture as SRH defeated CSK on Friday night at the Uppal Stadium in Hyderabad.
Pat Cummins’ iconic quote about “silencing a big crowd” ahead of last year’s World Cup final in Ahmedabad went down in the cricketing folklore when he, the Australian captain himself, dismissed Virat Kohli, and then, through Travis Head’s century, Australia defeated India in the epic showdown, after India had won 10 games on a trot.
This week, Cummins’ SRH stitched their second home win of IPL 2024 in two matches. After having demolished the Mumbai Indians bowlers by piling up 277, SRH clobbered the other five-time champions, CSK, who are also the defending champions, by 6 wickets.
As SRH closed in on a comprehensive win over Ruturaj Gaikwad’s side, the SRH fans posed in front of the camera with the finger on lips gesture to troll CSK and their fans. This image went viral on social media instantly. Some CSK fans slammed back at SRH for this mocking, and said they would return the favour later in the season.

In another viral video of a fan from the same match, a fan is seen holding a chartpaper that has a man doing a silent gesture in front of a Lion, which is the logo of CSK.

Talking about the match, SRH opener Abhishek Sharma continued on his stupendous form this season and blasted 37 runs in only 12 balls to start SRH’s chase of a below-par target of 166. From thereon, it was a simply chase for SRH as Travis Head scored 31 and Aiden Markram scored 50.
SRH captain Pat Cummins said, “Different soil. Slowed up a little bit as the game went on. Shivam was hitting it well against the spin. Thought we’ll take chance with off-cutters. First thing is always to get the points. Wouldn’t want to be bowling to him (Abhishek) and Trav Head at the top. Crowd was crazy tonight. When MS walked out, it was as loud as I’ve ever heard.”
