IPL8: Mitchell Starc ruled out of IPL 2015 with knee strain

Mitchell Starc, the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 player of the tournament, has been ruled out of the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2015 for the first three weeks due to a minor knee strain.

This has come as a big blow for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) as Starc was in a stellar form throughout the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015. RCB were relying heavily on Starc in the eight edition of the IPL and now they would have to look for replacements very quickly.

According to News.com.au, Cricket Australia want their premier fast bowler Starc in good shape before the commencement of the Ashes and the preceding tour of West Indies. Starc was the top performer for Australia and he bowled very well in the tournament. His spell of 6/28 against New Zealand was one of the best spells in the mega event. He was before accused of being a ‘soft’ bowler by Shane Warne but he was very aggressive and swung the ball at pace. Starc has surged to the top for the first time in his career following a stellar performance.

Starc, who was named the ICC’s best one-day bowler following a stellar World Cup performance, will join the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) midway through the IPL 2015 tournament.  His injury comes as a hindrance to RCB who have taken a good battery of pacers going in into IPL.
