Irfan Pathan has shared his opinion on which catch he considers better between MS Dhoni’s and Ajinkya Rahane’s catches in the recent match between Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.
On Tuesday (March 26), CSK dominated GT, securing a 63-run victory to maintain their unbeaten start in IPL 2024. The match marked the first encounter between CSK and GT since last year’s final, sparking expectations of an intense showdown. However, CSK displayed superior performance, outclassing the 2022 champions to secure their second consecutive win of the season.

Chennai Super Kings chose to bat first, scoring a strong 206/6 in their 20 overs, thanks to Shivam Dube’s quick half-century and solid contributions from openers Rachin Ravindra and Ruturaj Gaikwad.
In response, Gujarat Titans struggled, ending at 143/8. Sai Sudharsan top-scored with 37 runs, but CSK’s bowlers, led by Deepak Chahar, Mustafizur Rahman, and Tushar Deshpande, restricted GT effectively, each claiming two wickets.
During the match, both MS Dhoni and Ajinkya Rahane showcased exceptional catching skills. MS Dhoni’s catch was the first highlight of the game. In the eighth over, he executed a remarkable full-length dive to his right side while airborne to dismiss Vijay Shankar.
In the 12th over, Rahane showcased his brilliance by dismissing David Miller with a stunning catch. Miller struck a powerful shot towards deep mid-wicket, and Rahane dived forward to complete an exceptional catch. Following the game, Irfan Pathan expressed his preference for Rahane’s catch over Dhoni’s, asking his followers: “Would you choose Dhoni’s catch or Rahane’s? My pick is Rahane, yours?”

CSK will play their next match on Sunday (March 31) against Delhi Capitals, while Gujarat Titans will take on Sunrisers Hyderabad on the same day.
