Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir, the two Delhi boys, have had some hot duels during the Indian Premier League. They had a fight in IPL 2013 during the RCB vs KKR game and again had a fight during the IPL 2023 game between RCB and lSG when Gambhir was serving as the mentor of the Lucknow Super Giants.
Now, Gautam Gambhir has replaced Rahul Dravid as the Head Coach of the Indian Cricket Team. Virat Kohli is set to play under Gambhir in the Indian team. So, fans are wondering how will the relationship between the two turn out. Former India cricketer, Ashish Nehra has spoken about this matter.
Nehra feels that the two players are professional and passionate. They always have a go at the opposition and do their best to win games for their team. However, when they will play together in one team, they will show strong unity and work together for the betterment of the Indian Cricket Team.
Is There A Rift Between Virat Kohli And Gautam Gambhir In The Indian Team?
Nehra also added that the two stalwarts have a lot of experience and hence it won’t be an issue for both of them to work together. Nehra feels that many players despite on-field spats have worked together unitedly while playing for the same team. So, it won’t be different for Gambhir and Kohli as well.
“Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir are two very passionate individuals. Whenever they play for a team, they can turn up against the opposition. But, when they are together in a dressing room, they are together, united for the team. You’re talking about Virat Kohli, who has an experience of over 16-17 years, Gautam Gambhir is also experienced. The things on the outside, people get an impression about it. It’s not just Gambhir and Kohli, there are so many players who have had on-field spats in the past, but when they play together for a team, they have done well as a player, as a coach-captain, as a coach and senior player,” Nehra told India Today.
“Gautam Gambhir is upfront, transparent which is great. He keeps it clear and speaks his mind. That’s very important. Yes, I agree, everybody has their own style (of coaching), to operate with the coach, captain and player. I don’t see any problem with these two and where they are in their careers,” Nehra concluded.
