The tall and handsome Australian quickie came in as a nightmare for team India at Guwahati. While India was enjoying a spree of 7 straight wins against the Kangaroos in T20s Jason Behrendorff took the onus to overturn fortunes.
The 28 year old pacer just in his second international appearance destroyed the handsome Indian batting line making the best in class batsmen seem practice targets.
Jason Behrendorff finished with more than impressive figures of 4 for 21 in his dream spell and Ravi Shahstri could only see from the dressing room the Indian top order destroyed by this not so familiar face.
Rohit Sharma
He claimed Hitman in the very first over with a beauty, that delivery endorsed sheer class! Indian batsmen looked like they had no answers to the Behrendorff fiasco.
Virat Kohli
In no time he also ate the wicket of Virat Kohli who was welcomed to the crease by a great roar from the stands and he was caught and bold by Behrendorff at a delivery that left him clueless.
Manish Pandey
And then soon he took the wicket of Manish Pandey who edged on to the keeper. Irrespective of which fan club one belongs you just wanted him to never cease bowling for his spell was such a great display of fine class bowling.
Shikhar Dhawan
His fourth prey was Shikhar Dhawan who tried to hit him out of the park but fell to a spectacular catch by the skipper, David Warner. He made the extra ordinary catch look so simple and Behrendorff’s spell ensured that every Aussie on the field was charged to the pinnacle.
India was gifted a rather embarrassing 8 wicket defeat by the Aussies and Jason Behrendorff was clearly the hero of the game. You don’t see world class batsman like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli be left clueless like this very often and there is every reason why Behrendorff deserves all the appreciation.
India and Australia now stand at par in T20 series and Behrendorff is certainly a name India would be wary of in the third game at Hyderabad.
