Jasprit Bumrah Slammed Sunil Gavaskar For Questioning Seniors Taking Rest: After the conclusion of the ongoing ODI series against England, the Indian cricket team is all set to lock their horns with West Indies in a three-match ODI series and five-match T20I series.
The Indian cricket team has been playing back-to-back games, across all formats ever since cricket was resumed after a brief halt because of COVID-19. In order to counter the workload, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has been closely monitoring their star players and has been giving them proper rest so that they remain fit and in shape, especially with the T20 World Cup 2022 just around the corner.
Sunil Gavaskar Slammed BCCI For Resting Players

However, the resting policy of the BCCI didn’t go down well with many former cricketers who are slamming the Indian board for the same. Recently, former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar lashed out at the BCCI for not giving enough priority to international cricket and resting players too frequently. He had said:
“See I do not agree with this concept of players resting. Not at all. You don’t take rest during IPL, then why ask for it while playing for India? I don’t agree with it. You will have to play for India. Don’t talk about rest. There are only 20 overs in an innings in T20. That does not take any toll on your body. In Test matches, the mind and the body take a toll, I get that. But I don’t think there is much problem in T20 cricket,”
Jasprit Bumrah Gave A Fitting Reply
Now, responding to the opinion of Sunil Gavaskar, India’s sensational pacer Jasprit Bumrah slammed his opinion without disrespecting the legendary cricketer. Jasprit Bumrah, who came up with a brilliant 6 for 19 effort in the first ODI against England at the Oval, leading his side to a 10-wicket victory,
“See I do not agree with this concept of players resting.
He explained how within a span of a week he has played a Test match, a T20I, and now an ODI match. The pacer said that it becomes difficult to manage workload if the game takes a toll on the body. He said:
“You need to remain fresh and you need to take care of your body. At times, you have to sleep even for 9 or 10 hours than usual 8 hours of sleep. Recovery is very important as fast bowling is a strenuous job and takes its toll on the body. But this aspect of cricket is something that everyone who is playing professional cricket needs to accept,”
