Jasprit Bumrah Wrote A Beautiful Message For Ben Stokes On Twitter: England’s World Cup winner Ben Stokes has announced that he will retire from the ODI format of cricket immediately after the England cricket team takes on South Africa at Chester-le-Street on Tuesday.

Ben Stokes Announced Retirement From ODI

Ben Stokes, who was recently appointed as the captain of England’s Test format, admitted that playing all the formats was “just unsustainable for me now” and he made it clear that he has decided to retire from ODI so that he can focus on Test and T20s.

Therefore, while he will be playing his last ODI match on Tuesday, he will continue to play in the shortest format of the game and lead the side in the Test format as well.

On Monday, Ben Stokes took to his social media and shared his decision to take retirement from the ODI format of the game. In his long post, Stokes stated that his body is unable to sustain playing all three formats and how he wants to give his best in the red-ball format of the game. He wrote:

“I will play my last game for England in ODI cricket on Tuesday in Durham. I have decided to retire from this format. This has been an incredibly tough decision to make. I have loved every minute of playing with my mates for England. We have had an incredible journey on the way,”

He added: “As hard as a decision as this was to come to, it’s not as hard dealing with the fact I can’t give my teammates 100 per cent of myself in this format anymore. The England shirt deserves nothing less from anyone who wears it,”

“Three formats are just unsustainable for me now. Not only do I feel that my body is letting me down because of the schedule and what is expected of us, but I also feel that I am taking the place of another player who can give Jos and the rest of the team their all. It’s time for someone else to progress as a cricketer and make incredible memories like I have over the past 11 years.”
