Journalist Rahul Roushan Exposed The Hypocrisy Behind Wasim Jaffer’s Controversial Resignation

Former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer has created a stir on social media after he was involved in an ugly controversy. Wasim Jaffer recently stepped down from his position as the coach of the Uttarakhand cricket team and claimed that he was mistreated by the management and his recommendations were not being adhered to.

As per the sources, some CAU officials have leveled communal allegations against Jaffer, claiming that the domestic cricket stalwart was trying to create a religious divide within the team. However, Wasim has rejected all such allegations that stated that he chose players based on their religion.  Jaffer also took to his Twitter and stated some facts. He wrote:

“1. I recommended Jay Bista for captaincy not Iqbal but CAU officials favoured Iqbal.
2. I did not invite Maulavis
3. I resigned cos bias of selectors-secretary for non-deserving players
4. Team used to say a chant of Sikh community, I suggested we can say “Go Uttarakhand” #Fact”

The tweet went viral in no time and was flooded with comments from the fans to it.  Several cricketers including Irfan Pathan, Anil Kumble, have come out in open and expressed their opinions on the matter.

Meanwhile, social media is divided into two parts on this controversy, while there are many who are supporting Wasim Jaffer, the others are speaking against him.

Amongst many, the CEO of OpIndia, Rahul Roushan,  took to his Twitter and shared a hard-hitting tweet for all those who were trying to divert this controversy towards the Hindu-Muslim debate. In his tweet, the Twitter user cited some examples when other cricketers including Sachin Tendulkar, Ravindra Jadeja, were targeted by the fans. He wrote:

“When Tendulkar is targeted, it’s fine. This is the upper caste privilege in today’s India. A Brahmin Tendulkar can be maligned openly but dare you accuse a ‘minority’ Wasim!”

He added:

“A Jadeja is accused of harboring casteist feelings just because he did tiktokiya type video holding a sword, but a Muslim player must never be accused of harboring communal feelings. Sure.”
