Angry Indian Fans Slam Pakistani Journalist Who Insulted Gautam Gambhir On Twitter

Former India batsman Gautam Gambhir returned to on-field action with the Legends League Cricket (LLC) 2023 tournament that kicked off on Friday in Doha.

Leading the team of Indian players, India Maharajas, Gautam Gambhir’s side defeated the Asia Lions team, which was captained by former Pakistani all-rounder Shahid Afridi. The third team in this competition is World Giants, captained by Aaron Finch. The 3-team tournament is being played at the West End Park International Cricket Stadium in Doha.

Apart from Gautam Gambhir, the India Maharajas squad include some renowned names such as  Yusuf and Irfan Pathan, Suresh Raina, Murali Vijay, Harbhajan Singh, Robin Uthappa, and Praveen Kumar.

Pakistani journalist insults Gautam Gambhir; gets slammed by fans

Gautam Gambhir met Shahid Afridi at toss and both shook hands as well. This became a vocal talking point on social media. Their picture of shaking hands went viral.

Gambhir and Afridi have been rivals – whether when they were active cricketers or now as retired international stars. They have conflicted on Twitter a few times, mostly regarding the issue of Kashmir. Both being passionate about their respective countries have had taken staunch stances about the Kashmir topic.

So, them playing on the same field, for the same competition, was something that was a big thing, at least among the fans who tuned in large numbers to see their favorite stars, especially Gambhir and Afridi.

In this match, the India batter came out on top, scoring a match-winning half-century – an innings of 54 runs in 39 balls – in the chase of 157 runs, while Afridi scored 12 (8) and went wicketless in his 4 overs. However, Gambhir couldn’t take India Maharajas over the line as Asia Lions won by 9 runs.

While both remained cordial and professional on the field, on Twitter a journalist by the Twitter handle of “@DennisCricket_” took a dig at Gambhir and insulted the 2-time World champion.

Dennis took a screenshot of the meeting between Afridi and Gambhir at the toss and in the image, Gambhir is looking down after shaking hands with Afridi and is about to turn around.

Dennis put a disgusting angle to this and tweeted: “Coward couldn’t even look the King of Kashmir in the eye.”

Here is the sickening tweet from Dennis, who has not missed a chance to troll Gambhir or Indians over the past few years.

The Indian fans weren’t going to take an insult to their beloved and respected Gautam Gambhir and hit back at Dennis, slamming him on both cricket and politicial front.
