Kevin Pietersen Slams The ECB In A Hard-Hitting Tweet

Former England cricketer Kevin Pietersen has come down hard on the clueless-looking England side after they suffered a horrible batting collapse on Day 1 of the ongoing Gabba Test in the much-anticipated Ashes series.

England’s decision of batting first turned out to be an absolute disaster. Mitchell Starc bowling the opener Rory Burns from the first ball of the game set the tone for the Australian side and the England side couldn’t recover from it. England skipper Joe Root fell to Cummins for a duck.

Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, and Pat Cummins breathed fire as they managed to bundle England out for 147 runs with their lethal bowling attack. While Mitchell Starc and Jos Hazlewood also claimed 2 wickets each, on the other hand, Cameron Green picked his maiden wicket. The newly-appointed skipper Pat Cummins made a dream start to his captaincy stint as he led his side from the front with a first Ashes five-wicket haul to bundle England out for 147 runs in the first innings of the ongoing Gabba Test.

Kevin Pietersen took to his social media and slammed England team management and board for the collapse. While he asked the fans to not blame the player for not being good enough, but he lashed out at the county system. As per KP, the county system is flawed and won’t produce high-quality batters. He wrote:

“147 all out.
Please don’t blame the players for not being good enough.
The county system is completely flawed & WILL NOT produce enough tough & high quality batters. I’ve said this for years now – TOO MANY COUNTIES!”

In another Tweet, Kevin blamed how the best players are playing T20 rather than playing in County Cricket and that is the ‘main reason’ the standard of County Cricket has dropped. He wrote:

“Since the inception of franchise T20 cricket, the standard of county cricket has gone down. Main reason – the best internationals are playing T20 rather than taking pounds in CC. Work less, paid more. Knock on effect is that CC standard has dropped considerably.”
