Former England cricketer Kevin Pietersen, who has time and again expressed his love for India, penned down an emotional message in Hindi after flying back to his country post the suspension of the IPL 2021 due to the COVID-19 crisis.

KP, who was in India as a commentator for the Indian Premier League 2021, took to his Twitter and prayed for the well-being of the people in India as the country is battling with the second wave of Coronavirus. India is reporting over 4 lakh positive coronavirus cases while thousands are losing their lives daily.

In his tweet, KP also reiterated the amount of love and affection he has received from the Indian people over the years. He wrote:

“मैंने भारत छोड़ दिया हो सकता है, लेकिन मैं अभी भी ऐसे देश के बारे में सोच रहा हूँ जिसने मुझे बहुत प्यार और स्नेह दिया है। कृपया लोग सुरक्षित रहें। यह समय बीत जाएगा लेकिन आपको सावधान रहना होगा।”

( which roughly translates to: “I might have left India but I am still thinking about the country that has given me so much love and affection. The people there should stay safe. This too shall pass but the people need to be alert.”)

Meanwhile, KP had recently suggested that moving the IPL to the UK would be the best decision as there is a window in September just after England host India in a five-match Test series that concludes on September 14.  He had said:

“I have seen people talking about the UAE as a possible destination to finish the IPL in September, but I actually think the IPL should move to the UK.”

He said:

“There is a window in September after the England vs India Test series has finished. All the best Indian players would already be there, and all of the best English players would be available as well,”
