KL Rahul Equalled Virender Sehwag’s Big Achievement

The Indian star opener KL Rahul is one of the most talented finds of the Indian cricket team. Though the cricketer has been on and off the playing squad of the national side, but he has impressed everyone with his performances. Ever since he made his debut for India, the Karanataka-based cricketer has given several memorable performances.

However, he played one of the most special knocks of his career, yesterday, on the opening day of the 2nd Test match as he scored his first-ever century at the Mecca of Cricket, i.e, Lord’s Stadium.

Rahul showed immaculate control and sheer determination as he walked out to bat alongside his opening partner Rohit Sharma. Though it took time for Rahul to settle down on the ground, but after Rohit’s dismissal, he gained pace and played a flawless knock.

Rahul became the third Indian opener in the history of the longest format of the game to score a century at Lord’s. He reached the triple figures in 212 balls and by the time he reached his century, he had hit 9 boundaries and 1 sixes.

Meanwhile, with this stunning century at Lord’s, KL Rahul equaled the legendary Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag in the list of most hundreds outside Asia. Now Rahul and Sehwag, both have four hundred outside Asia to their names as openers in the longest format of the game. While the legendary Sunil Gavaskar sits on top of the list with 15 centuries outside Asia.

Following Sehwag and Rahul at number 2, Vinoo Mankad and Ravi Shastri sharing the number 3 spot with 3 centuries each outside Asia.
