Former Indian cricketer MS Dhoni is hailed as one of the most successful skippers to have played international cricket. He is the only captain in the history of the game to lead a side to title victories in all three ICC events. He took the Indian cricket team to the number one position, under his captaincy for nearly a decade.
Dhoni played a crucial role in grooming players including the likes of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, and a few others as he backed them when they needed the support of the captain.
Among many, sensational Indian cricketer KL Rahul also made his Test debut under the captaincy of MS Dhoni in 2014. It was his only Test match under him as Dhoni retired from the longest format after the end of the game.
Recently, while talking to Forbes India, KL Rahul heaped praises on the legendary Indian skipper MS Dhoni. He said that MS Dhoni is the first name that comes to his mind when talking of captains of his era.
KL Rahul also said that any of his teammates could even take a bullet for him. He said: “The minute anybody says captain, the first name that comes to mind from our era will be MS Dhoni. We have all played under him. Yes, he has won a lot of tournaments, done amazing things for the country but I think the biggest achievement that as captain you can have is the respect of your teammates and any of us would take a bullet for him without a second thought,”
He also revealed that one thing he has learned from MS Dhoni is to put the country ahead of everything. He said:
“Something I have learned from him is how humble he has been through ups and downs, how he has put his country ahead of everything is just unbelievable.”
