KL Rahul Talked About Rahul Dravid’s Appointment As India’s New Head Coach: Team India is gearing up for the upcoming home series against New Zealand, which will kickstart from November 2019. With the legendary cricketer Rahul Dravid being the new head coach of Team India and Rohit Sharma, the new T20I skipper, a lot of changes will take place in the team India’s dressing room.

Meanwhile, India’s newly appointed T20I vice-captain KL Rahul feels that India’s new head coach Rahul Dravid will bring with him a culture in which the players put the team above themselves.

Recently, while speaking at a press conference ahead of the upcoming series against New Zealand, KL Rahul expressed his excitement over the appointment of Rahul Dravid as the head coach of the Indian side.

KL Rahul Shares What Will Change Under Rahul Dravid’s Coaching

Well, not many are aware of the fact that KL Rahul shares a long-standing bond with the legendary cricketer. Over 15 years ago, KL Rahul scored two double centuries for Mangalore Zone in the KSCA inter-zonal under-13 tournament and this is when he caught the attention of Rahul Dravid.

Rahul Dravid called KL aside and had a long conversation with him. The young KL Rahul was thrilled after meeting the legend.

“I’ve been fortunate to know him (Dravid) for a long time. As a youngster, I tried to pick his brain and better understand the art of batting. He has been more than kind to us with his time back home in Karnataka. Having him here is a great opportunity for us to get better as cricketers. We all know what a big name he is, and what he has done for the country,”

He added:

“I’ve played a couple of games under Dravid in the India ‘A’ set up, and we’ve had a chat with him before coming here. He was a team man when he was playing, and that is the sort of culture he wants here. He wants everyone to put the team ahead of individual goals. We are excited to have him. It is a great time for Indian cricket,”

Further, KL also talked about his new T20i Captain, Rohit Sharma, who is all set to take the T20I captaincy responsibilities. KL Rahul expressed his excitement as he heaped praises on Rohit Sharma. He said:

“There is nothing new about Rohit being captain. For as long as I can remember, he has been the captain of Mumbai Indians. His stats speak for themselves. He has a great understanding of the game. He is tactically very good, and that is why he has been able to achieve great things as a leader. He will bring a lot of calm into the dressing room.

“The next few days and weeks will be exciting, as we will understand what sort of goals and culture that Rohit has in mind. It’s a big change in Indian cricket, and we’re all very excited about it,”
