As India registered a mammoth victory over a formidable England, equalizing the series in stunning fashion, Virat Kohli surpassed MS Dhoni in the number of victories at home as he chronicled a remarkable figure next to his name.

Axar Patel pulled off a rippling fiver to dismantle England in the second innings that saw the crucial scalps of Dom Sibley, Jack Leach, Joe Root, Ollie Pope and Olly Stone that left England tumbling like a house of cards. Ashwin chimed in with another resonating 3-wicket haul that claimed the important scalps of Ben Stokes, Dan Lawrence and Rory Burns. Kuldeep chipped with a crucial cameo that earned him two important wickets.

However, after this victory, India will now be raring to post a pompous series win over the Three Lions that could turn things around in their favor after a docile submission against England in the first Test.

We will be sneaking a quick glance at the top five captains in India’s glittering Test antiquity at home.

  1. Sunil Gavaskar

India’s original master-blaster, Sunil Gavaskar lies in the fifth position as he captained India in 29 Test matches at home. Sunny’s India managed to wring out 7 victories and lost 2 encounters. The more staggering feature of his leadership legacy was the number of draws that read 20. His win percentage reads 24.1.
