MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli are two of the biggest names in the cricket world. While MS Dhoni is hailed as one of the greatest captains to have ever played the game of cricket, on the other hand, Virat Kohli, who succeeded him and led the Indian cricket team from where he left off, is hailed as the modern legend of this game.
Both the cricketers share a great bond of friendship with each other, however, they are both completely opposite in nature.
While MS Dhoni is known for his cool-as-a-cucumber personality, Virat, on the other hand, has made a name for himself for being someone who is aggressive and always in the face of his opponents. Fans have always been divided when it comes to their different personalities and also their methods of captaincy.
Virat Kohli’s Aggression Or MS Dhoni’s Coolness? Ravi Shastri Answers

Meanwhile, former India head coach Ravi Shastri has joined the debate and has given an epic reply to the million-dollar question. Speaking in a video shared by Star Sports, Shastri replied to a fan’s question and said:
“Dono Chaiye Mujhe Side Mein. Dono Bilkul. Ek Thanda, Ek Garma Garma. Aur Main Beech Mein Fit Hunga (I Need Both in my team. Both absolutely. One cool, one hot. I will fit in the middle,”
Notably, Shastri has worked with both Dhoni and Kohli as Indian captains during his tenure as Team India’s director and head coach from 2014 to 2021.
Kohli made his debut for the Indian cricket team under the leadership of Dhoni and later on, went on to replace him as India’s full-time captain in Test cricket in 2015. Kohli took charge of India’s captaincy in the white-ball format in 2017. Dhoni then played the final two years of his international career under Kohli’s captaincy.
Last year, Kohli revealed that Mahendra Singh Dhoni was the only one who contacted him personally during his rough phase after he gave up the captaincy in January. Speaking in a press conference during the Asia Cup, Kohli revealed:
“When I left Test captaincy, I got a message from only one person, with whom I played in the past. It was MS Dhoni. A lot of people have my number, a lot of people give me suggestions, a lot of people talk about my game on TV. But out of those people who had my number, I didn’t get a message from anyone else barring Dhoni,”
He added:
“You have respect, you have a genuine connection with a few people and it looks like that (Dhoni messaging him). It’s a two-way security, I don’t want anything from them nor do they want anything from me. I don’t feel insecure with them, nor do they feel insecure with me,”
