ODI World Cup

The World Cup 2023 will be played in India from October 5 to November 19, with the opening match and the final to be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. This will be the 13th edition of the ODI World Cup.

For the first time, India will host the entire ODI World Cup; in 1996 and 2011, although India were the main hosts, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh also co-hosted the tournaments at various points.

England are the defending champions, having won their maiden ODI WC trophy four years ago in the historic final at Lord’s vs New Zealand. Only West Indies and Australia have been able to successfully defend their ODI world champions crown so far.

While Australia will be looking for their 6th ODI WC trophy, West Indies are not part of the tournament for the first time. India will be aiming to lock their third ODI world title, and end their decade-long ICC trophy drought. For Sri Lanka, England, and Pakistan, this is an opportunity to win their second ODI WC.

In this article, we will talk about the record holders of scoring most runs in each of the 12 ODI World Cups.
