List Of Indian Bowlers With Hat-Trick In ODI Format

A hat-trick is a special event for any bowler in any format of the game. So far only 49 hat-tricks of wickets have been claimed in the One Day International (ODI) format of the game. And there are four Indian bowlers who have achieved this feat so far. Kuldeep Yadav is the only Indian bowler to have achieved this milestone twice so far.

Here, check out the list of four bowlers who have registered their names in the record books of picking the Hatrick. Have a look:

1. Chetan Sharma – vs New Zealand:

The first-ever Indian cricketer to ever pick up a hat-trick in the ODI format of the game is Chetan Sharma. It happened in 1987 when the pacer put up a show against New Zealand. During the game, Chetan Sharma dismissed Ken Rutherford, Ian Smith, and Ewen Chartfield. Thanks to his brilliant performance, team India won the match easily. He was awarded a joint Man of the Match award with Sunil Gavaskar.

2. Kapil Dev – vs Sri Lanka:

The legendary Indian all-rounder Kapil Dev is the second bowler to feature in this elite list of bowlers to take a hat-trick in the 50 over the format of the game. It happened during the Final of the Asia Cup, 1991 against Sri Lanka. Batting first, Sri Lanka was looking impressive at 175/4 in a rain-curtailed 45-overs match. Kapil Dev dismissed Roshan Mahanama, Sanath Jayasuriya, and Rumesh Ratnayake.

3. Kuldeep Yadav – vs Australia and West Indies:

Kuldeep Yadav, the talented Chinaman is the only India bowler to pick two hat-tricks in the ODI format of the game. It was in 2017 when Kuldeep picked his first hat-trick against Australia. These wickets played an instrumental role in India winning the game comfortably by 50 runs. Kuldeep’s second hat-trick came against West Indies, where he pocked three wickets at Visakhapatnam. Kuldeep first dismissed Shai Hope, Jason Holder, and Alzarri Joseph completing the second hat-trick of his ODI career.

4. Mohammed Shami – vs Afghanistan:

Mohammad Shami is the only Indian bowler to pick up a hat-trick outside India in the ODI format of the game. It was in 2019 when Shami achieved this milestone at Southampton in the World Cup.

Though Afghanistan was looking steady in the chase, however, Shami changed their plans. He firstly removed Mohammad Nabi, Aftab Alam, and Mujeeb Ur Rahman.
