[VIDEO] Litton Das Broke His Bat After Getting Dismissed Early Against New Zealand
As is common in cricket, passions ran high on September 3 during the 2nd One-Day International between Bangladesh and New Zealand. One such moment was offered by Litton Das. After being out in the first inning, Das was so upset that he broke his bat.
Litton Das took the field for Bangladesh in an attempt to overtake New Zealand’s 255-run total. He had the duty of opening for his team and setting the tone. But destiny had other things in store for him.
Litton Das faced the ferocious pace of Kyle Jamieson in the sixth over of the game. Intent on sending the ball sailing beyond the fielders, Das tried an ambitious uppercut. Unfortunately, his hard work failed to pay off. Rachin Ravindra caught the ball at third man thanks to the fact that it grazed the edge of his bat.
The sadness and despair of being out so easily in a crucial game showed on Das’s face. As he walked back to the pavilion, he finally lost control of his emotions and smashed his bat. This video, which captures the raw feelings that cricket can provoke, soon became popular on social media.
Bangladesh suffered a major defeat due to the early removal of Litton Das. The squad was under a lot of strain after losing him and a crucial player so early in the innings. Bangladesh lost against New Zealand despite the efforts of its other players who tried hard but couldn’t overcome this setback.

After New Zealand’s first innings, Bangladesh needed to score 255 to win. New Zealand lost both of their openers early, Finn Allen and Will Young, but the middle order saved the day. Henry Nicholls contributed 49 runs, while Tom Blundell’s 68 runs were essential. Towards the conclusion of the innings, spinner Ish Sodhi scored 35 runs.
Khaled Ahmed and Mahedi Hasan, two of Bangladesh’s bowlers, each took three, while Mustafizur Rahman, took two. However, the batting brilliance of New Zealand overshadowed their efforts.
In addition to Litton Das, opener Tamim Iqbal fought back with 44 runs throughout the chase. Tanzid Hasan, Soumya Sarkar, and Towhid Hridoy, who made up the middle order, were unable to offer the steadiness necessary to pursue the target.
Ish Sodhi, a leg spinner for New Zealand, had a fantastic game, picking up 6 wickets while allowing just 39 runs. One of the biggest reasons Bangladesh didn’t win was because of the outstanding bowling he delivered. Bangladesh scored 168 runs overall, falling short by 86 runs. The Player of the Match title was well deserved by Ish Sodhi, who bowled really well.
