David Warner is going through a purple patch in his career. The calender year 2014 was a defining year in his Test career, as it completed his transformation from a T20 dasher to a Test batsman. David Warner scored runs everywhere he played and most importantly, converted his starts into big centuries more often than not. In the first innings of the fourth and final Test of the ongoing Test series against India, Warner scored his 12th ton.

In his Test career, David Warner has played 35 matches and scored 3028 runs at an average of 48.06. David Warner scores a century every 5.58 innings in Test matches, the second lowest ratio for an Australian batsman – behind the great Sir Donald Bradman – and the best among active cricketers.

This is a big achievement for David Warner, as he is the best among the present lot of cricketers, as far as lowest innings/century ratio in Tests in concerned. Warner is ahead of some of the best modern-day batsmen like Kumar Sangakkara, Hashim Amla, Matthew Hayden and Younis Khan. It is true that David Warner has played less cricket as compared to other modern-day cricketers who are in this list, it is still a big achievement for Warner, who was first labelled only as a ‘bang-bang T20 specialist.

David Warner has a very Sehwag-esque approach towards Test cricket. Irrespective of the conditions and bowling attack, Warner plays his natural game and bats with a very aggressive frame of mind. His approch towards the game is always very positive and just like Virender Sehwag, he backs himself to take on any bowling attack in the world, irrespective of the conditions.
