LSG vs GT: Lucknow Super Giants is all set to take on the defending champions Gujarat Titans at the Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow. This is the first time that an IPL 2023 game is taking place at this venue.
The KL Rahul-led LSG is coming into this game on the back of a huge away win against the table-toppers Rajasthan Royals are currently level on points with them. The best thing about LSG in the ongoing season is that they not dependent on a single individual.
On the other hand, Gujarat Titans have had an extended break. They lost their previous match against Rajasthan Royals. They have 3 wins out of the 5 games they have played so far. GT needs someone who could provide stability in the middle overs.
Hardik Pandya Won The Toss And Opted To Bat First
Meanwhile, as the game kicked off, GT captain Hardik won the toss and opted to bat first. Speaking at the toss, Hardik pointed out that batting first on the track is a better option. GT made a change as Noor Ahmad came in place of Alzarri Joseph. He said:
“We will bat first. Looks like a slow track, want to get the best out of it. There is no time to test our batters now. I am sure they have would have batted first as well if they won the toss. Although we chase well, we are batting first today. Alzarri misses out and Noor Ahmad comes in.”
LSG captain KL Rahul stated that he wanted to bat first as well but wasn’t concerned about losing the toss. Rahul pointed out that the team is very optimistic and is gelling well. He said:
“I would have batted but not worried about it. We will play good cricket. We bowled against SRH as well, we would like to restrict them to a good target and chase it down. Yudhvir misses out, Amit Mishra comes in, he was the impact player in the last game. Trusted the 12-13 players, have had a few injuries, each game someone has put their hand up and done the job for the team. We are gelling together well,”
