Fingers were pointed out at young fast bowler Arshdeep Singh after he dropped an easy catch in the high-voltage clash against Pakistan in Asia Cup 2022 Super-4 clash on Sunday in Dubai. The Babar Azam-led side was chasing a strong total of 182 runs and the game looked in India’s grip until the catch that Arshdeep dropped.
The incident took place during the 18-over of the game, a match-defining moment that tilted the game towards Pakistan’s favor. Arshdeep Singh dropped a crucial catch that could have completely changed the result of the match against India. While he was very impressed with his yorkers, however, that dropped catch cost India the game. Arshdeep Singh dropped Asif Ali in the over, who, in turn, smashed a six and a four in the next over to take Pakistan closer to the target.
Following the game, Arshdeep Singh was trolled mercilessly on social media. While he was receiving criticism from all corners, former India cricketer Harbhajan Singh came out in support of the young Indian talent. In his Tweet, Harbhajan Singh slammed the trollers for attacking the young bowler. He wrote:
“Stop criticising young @arshdeepsinghh No one drop the catch purposely..we are proud of our 🇮🇳 boys .. Pakistan played better.. shame on such people who r putting our own guys down by saying cheap things on this platform bout arsh and team.. Arsh is GOLD🇮🇳”

His Tweet went viral in no time and was flooded with reactions who agreed with him. Meanwhile, popular cricket expert Madhav Sharma also took to his social media and slammed the people who are trolling Arshdeep. In his reply, Madhav highlighted how some Indian fans got carried away and crossed their lines while trolling the young bowler. He wrote:
“It’s true that many handles from Pakistan are tweeting non-sense against Arshdeep Singh but some Indian cricket fans also got carried away. We must know where to draw the line. #INDvsPAK”

In another Tweet, Madhav also pointed out how that abusive tweets targeting Arshdeep were made by Pakistani people and not Indian fans. He wrote:
“If anybody is questioning Arshdeep Singh’s love for India only because he dropped a catch, then he/she needs to stop watching cricket immediately and consult a psychiatrist at the earliest. #INDvsPAK”
