They say that if you believe in Mahadev, he can even bring you out alive from flames and you would walk unscathed. KL Rahul was no exception to the same. There was a point in time when it was all going haywire for the Indian opener or the middle-order stalwart, that you may say.
However, come 2023, come Asia Cup, just when Rahul thought that he will have to warm the benches for another game, in a form of late surprise came the opportunity when Rahul Dravid asked his namesake to gear up for the mega clash against Pakistan, five minutes prior to this fixture.
They say that when life gives you lemons, you make a lemonade, Rahul actually made a few revamped lemon cuts that felt mighty close to the timbre and yet kept on sailing to the fences. With all said and done, he was a titan redivivus.
But it didn’t come in a single day. Time and time again, he kept on being bogged down by injuries and there felt a moment when he would probably not be a part of the Indian team again. The internet trolls getting louder about why he should never play for the Indian team again because he has only been playing IPL.
However, they had no idea about the workload that a modern day cricketer has to put himself through. For them it was all about criticizing and detracting from a middle-order juggernaut. When they were done, they had a grin on their faces.
But when Mahadev chooses to protect you, no matter the odds, you will walk out unscathed of them. Rahul arrived to the bigger stage. He seemed a lot more famished. Another niggle came his way and he was not backing down. He was upping the workload in the dugout.
If Mahadev’s blessings were a supreme, his lady luck, Athiya Shetty added a smile on his face that made it clear that he was content and happy. He was genuinely smiling and he knew exactly what he was looking forward to. People deemed him arrogant for being silent wherein he was simply minding his own business.
Well they say that Mahadev will definitely bless you, lady luck will be by your side but if you want these two, you first need to be gritty enough. You need to have a mettle of steel and most importantly you need to come out all guns blazing.
KL Rahul was a blazing testimony of grit and gumption. He was undaunted. He was fearless. He kept on coming back at life. The injuries didn’t bother him. He breathed cricket and he was coming for the bigger glory. In one of the interviews he said that he was born to play cricket and it is so true. When the entire world cowers down, Rahul stands up firm and tall.
We have had a lot of say about how he is not India’s best bet but if we take a closer look at Rahul’s recent run, we will know that he is here to stay and he is the next leader that India has been so desperately searching for.
