Sri Lanka vs India: Maheesh Theekshana Mocks India After Series Win
Indian batters stumbled in every match against the spinners on a Turing track and raises big questions about their ability to play spin on those tracks. It is a welcome win for the Sri Lankans after they were whitewashed 3-0 in the T20I series vs India.
After Sri Lanka’s series win against India, Maheesh Theekshana made a pointed comment about India’s playing conditions. He suggested that India typically plays on favorable pitches and small boundaries at home, which can benefit their team. Theekshana pointed out that in Sri Lanka, especially at Premadasa Stadium, the conditions can offer more turn for spinners. He implied that Sri Lankan players are well-prepared for such conditions, as they often encounter similar pitches domestically and are adept at playing in them. His remarks seemed to mock the fact that India might struggle with these conditions, highlighting the advantage that Sri Lankan spinners have on their home ground.
Theekshana said: They (India) usually play on good wickets and small boundaries in India. We knew playing in Premadasa, if there’s little bit turn, we can take advantage because we have good spinners. Even in domestic, the wickets will be like this and our batters know how to play.
