Capitals pacer Marizanne Kapp rattled the Warriorz with her sizzling bowling display as she took as she took a thunderous five-wicket haul in her new-ball spell.
In match number 9 of the WPL 2023, bowling 4 overs on a trot with the new ball, Kapp returned with stunning figures of 5/15. Her 5 victims included the UP top 4 of Sabbhineni Meghana, Laura Wolvaardt, Harleen Deol, and Ashleigh Gardner, and then the fifth wicket was of wicket-keeper Sushma Verma.
Her magnificent bowling in tandem with Shikha Pandey, who dismissed Dayalan Hemalatha, left Warriorz reeling at 33/6 after 7 overs. UP eventually managed only 105/9 in their 20 overs.
Marizanne Kapp swung and seamed the ball superbly, and both sides to rattle the UPW batters who had no idea on how to deal with this exceptional new-ball spell from the South African all-rounder. Quite astonishingly, all 5 of Marizanne Kapp’s dismissals were either bowled or lbw, showcasing her incredible prowess and control over the ball, swinging and seaming it just enough to hit the sticks.
Fans were dazzled and entertained thoroughly from this memorable five-wicket haul of Marizanne Kapp, and lauded her on Twitter.

Shafali Verma hammers 19-ball fifty to sweep up the chase swiftly
After Marizanne Kapp’s bowling destruction, opener Shafali Verma brought on the storm with the bat, making it a forgettable day for Warroriz.
In the small chase of 106 at the DY Patil Stadium, Shafali Verma blasted 76 runs off just 28 balls. Verma launched 10 fours and 5 sixes in her blockbuster innings to seal the chase in just 7.1 overs. This is her 2nd fifty in 4 WPL 2023 matches.
On the points table now, the DC sit second behind Mumbai Indians. Meg Lanning’s team has won 3 of their 4 matches. MI, who have 3 wins in 3 games, are ahead of DC on NRR. UP Warrior, despite this giant loss, stay 3rd in the points table with 2 wins in 3 matches.
Speaking at the mid-innings break, Kapp said: “Just think I was all over the place in the first three games. I bowled full today, hit the right lengths and it worked for me. Myself and Shikha (Pandey) were talking, when we bowl second there is not much help for us. Today, when we lost the toss, we were happy to bowl first. The ball started moving around a bit when I changed the grip of the ball. It’s been so good to have her (Dane van Niekerk) here, I am happy. As long as my team is winning, I don’t care.”
