Mayanti Langer Involved In ‘Hot Or Not’ Male Cricketers Show: The Star Sports production time seemed to have crossed a line – a big one – when they decided to put on their female anchors and hosts in a ‘Hot Or Not’ show where they have to swipe left or right for male cricketers, as it is done on several dating apps where people get judged mostly based on their looks.
This segment, which involved fan-favorite anchor Mayanti Langer as well, aired on Star Sports on Thursday ahead of the match between RCB and SRH in Hyderabad.
Star Sports is the official TV broadcaster of IPL 2023. The channel has often been criticized by fans for many different reasons regarding their “cringy” shows, but this time they have overstepped by a margin in a segment which fans called as “objectification” of male cricketers.
Fans noticed that Mayanti Langer seemed uncomfortable doing this section,
where she has to swipe right or left to cricketers based on some of their photos in the segment that was titled ‘Hot Or Not’.
This created a big furor on social media with fans blasting Star Sports for this “pathetic” segment. The show was hosted by Suren Sundaram and also featured Bollywood actor Vidyut Jamwal. This was not some light-hearted show as its content were horrible and displeasing, leaving the fans fuming.
Half-naked bodies of superstar cricketers Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, and Andre Russell were shown to these four female anchors of which they had to select who was “Hot” and who was not. Disgusting.
Mayanti Langer looked uncomfortable in this segment, but she did – had to – continue as perhaps obligation toward the broadcaster.
Here’s how fans reacted:
Star Sports has stooped to new lows in the broadcasting arena just for some so called views. The female anchors rating male players hot or not should have been followed by male anchors rating female players whether they are hot or not.But oh, there feminists would have riled up.

I can't even believe Mayanti agreed to sit through this. That's what I wrote in my cricket group chat just now. It's appalling!

Star with their 'Hot or Not' segment in today's pre-match show clearly embarrassed themselves.
Imagine asking a senior anchor and married woman like Mayanti Langer to pick sides for a junior fellow like Shubman Gill. She was clearly uncomfortable. #NotDone#IPL2023

Talking about the RCB-SRH match, centuries from Virat Kohli and Heinrich Klaasen starred on the night with RCB winning the game by 8 wickets and continuing to remain alive in the playoff race.
Opening the batting with Faf du Plessis, Virat Kohli cracked 100 runs off 63 balls in an opening stand of 172 runs in 17.5 overs in the chase of 185. RCB skipper Faf du Plessis scored 71 runs off 47 balls and Bangalore won the match with 8 wickets in hand and 4 balls to spare.
Kohli creamed 12 fours and smoked 4 sixes in his innings, one of which was a gigantic 103-meter hit, and another helped him bring his century up against Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Kohli’s century overshadowed a brilliant hundred from SRH’s Heinrich Klaasen, who scored 104 runs off 51 balls.
