Kyle Mayers Hits Bulls-Eye To Run Out Suryakumar Yadav

Asked to bowl first, the West Indies started off the second T20I in a much-desired fashion by getting rid of two dangerous India batters – Shubman Gill and Suryakumar Yadav – both sent back in the dressing room inside the first four overs, pushing India on the back foot early in the game.

The second of those dismissals, that of SKY came via a spectacular fielding effort from Kyle Mayers, who hit the bulls-eye, running SKY out with a stunning direct-hit.

On the third ball of the 4th over, bowle by Obed McCoy, batsman Ishan Kishan tapped a short delivery on the leg-side and the pair set for a quick single. The single was always going to be a risky one as Mayers was stationed at mid-wicket.

Mayers is gaining a reputation for hitting the stumps directly in recent times using his athletic body to cover the distance to the ball quickly, a smooth one-handed pickup, and finishing off with a terrific, accurate shy at the stumps. This is exactly what he did today and got out Suryakumar Yadav even with the batter putting a dive.

Tilak Varma shined once again for India with the bat and recorded his maiden international fifty. Carrying on in a similar vein when he made 39 off 22 in the first T20I, the young left-handed batter went further today and made an impressive half-century, further showing why he’s touted as India’s future, while other batters struggled.

Varma scored 51 off 41 balls on a tricky, two-paced pitch on which shot-making was difficult. Hardik Pandya (24) and Kishan (27) got starts but failed to convert them into big ones.
