The Indian cricket team failed to live up to the expectations once again as they scored just 152 runs while batting first in the ongoing 2nd T20I match against West Indies on Sunday, August 6th. Tilak Varma, who made an impressive debut in the first T20I match, top-scored with 51 runs off 41 balls and registered two major milestones to give his international career an amazing boost.

Tilak Varma walked out to bat at number 4 with all-guns-blazing as he smashed the Windies bowlers to all the corners of the ground. Though, he started slow, however, soon he pressed the accelerator button and attacked the talented Windies bowlers.
Tilak Varma played an impressive knock of 51 runs off 41 balls, smashing 5 fours and 1 six. Varma, 20, has top-scored in both consecutive innings for his team as he had scored 39 off just 22 on his debut.
With 90 runs from his first two games in T20I cricket, Varma surpassed Suryakumar Yadav’s record of 89 runs to score the most runs in the first two games by an Indian cricketer. Suryakumar Yadav, who is the world no.1 T20I batter, scored 89 runs in his first two T20I matches in March 2021.

This half-century by Tilak was also the second youngest by an Indian player in the T20I format. The 21-year-old narrowly missed out on Rohit Sharma’s long-standing record, that he set in 2007.
