The IPL is the grandest T20 league in the world. It’s the enormous wealth that the tournament generated which makes it the richest franchise cricket tournament around the globe with every cricketer dreaming of playing in it.

While the franchises make their profits majorly from the astronomical broadcasting and sponsorship deals, the IPL owners have their own bussiness through which they are amongst the few richest ones in the world.

5. Manoj Badale 

Manoj Badale owns 65% of the Rajasthan Royals. Badale is an Indian-born businessman and venture capitalist. He is the co-founder and managing partner of the venture capital firm Blenheim Chalcot. According to thesportsgrail.com, Badale’s net worth is estimated to be $160 million.

Rajasthan Royals are the inaugural champions, having won the tournament in 2008. However, they have failed to reach the final since then.

4. JSW Group

The Delhi Capitals is co-owned by the JSW Group and the GMR Group. JSW Group is an Indian multinational conglomerate, led by Sajjan Jindal and part of the O.P. Jindal Group. Reportedly having a net worth of $270 million, the JSW Group is involved in sectors such as steel, energy, minerals, ports & infrastructure, and cement, across India, the US, South America, and Africa. The Capitals have reached the final only once – in 2020  – but lost in the final.

3. Shah Rukh Khan

Bollywood mega-star Shah Rukh Khan is the heartbeat of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), who are co-owned by Juhi Chawla and businessman Jay Mehta. The net worth of King Khan is recorded as around $600 million. The Knight Riders have won the title twice – in 2012 and 2014 – and reached the final last season but lost to CSK.

2. Kalanithi Maran

Sunrisers Hyderabad owner Kalanithi Maran is the owner of the Sun TV Network and is the second richest owner in the IPL with an estimated net worth of $2 Billion. SRH made their IPL debut in 2013 and won their maiden title in 2016. Last season, though, they finished at the bottom of the table.

1. Reliance Industries

The Mumbai Indians franchise is owned by India’s biggest conglomerate, Reliance Industries of multi-billionaire Mukesh Ambani whose net worth is calculated to be $21.2 billion. Mumbai Indians are the most successful franchise in the IPL, with 5 titles in their cabinet.
