Kane Williamson-led New Zealand cricket team have finally secured their maiden win in the Super 12 of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2021. However, Team India’s campaign in the ongoing tournament took a sharp turn. After suffering a humiliating 10-wicket loss against Pakistan, team India had another off day with the bat at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium against New Zealand.

After winning the toss and electing to field first, the New Zealand cricket team gave an excellent bowling performance as they restricted the Indian team to a mere 110 runs for the loss of seven wickets.

KL Rahul walked out to open the innings with Ishan Kishan, while Rohit Sharma came out to bat at number 3. The changed combination failed badly as KL Rahul went for a biggie on the leg side and ended up getting dismissed cheaply.

Sodhi also got rid of Indian skipper Virat Kohli in the 11th over. Hardik Pandya showed some intent and scored 23 runs but was dismissed in the quest to up the ante. Ravindra Jadeja played an unbeaten 19-ball 26 runs knock that took team India past the 100-run mark.

Trent Boult and Ish Sodhi, both the Kiwi bowlers gave a stunning performance as they picked 3 and 2 wickets each respectively.

Later, the Indian cricket team needed early wickets to restrict the Kiwi players to chase the target. However, they didn’t get it as Martin Guptill and Daryl Mitchell stitched together a partnership of 24-runs off 22 balls. Jasprit Bumrah gave the much-needed breakthrough to the Indian team as he dismissed Martin Guptill on 20.

The Kiwi players scored 44 runs in the powerplay and didn’t allow India to get a foothold back into the game. They chased down the target very successfully and defeated team India by 8 wickets.

Meanwhile, as soon as India lost the match, social media was flooded with reactions from the fans. From cricketers, experts to fans, everyone took to their Twitter and reacted to the disappointing performance of team India.
