Michael Vaughan Slammed India’s Decision Of Not Playing Kuldeep In The First Test

Michael Vaughan Slammed India’s Decision Of Not Playing Kuldeep In The First Test: After a day of battering at the hand of Joe Root and Dom Sibley, the hosts have been shorhorned into an unpleasant corner from which chances of recovery seem to be extremely bleak unless a miraculous turnaround can be conjured.

After a fine start by England, India came back strongly in the first session as Ashwin bested Rory Burns while Bumrah got the better of Lawrence with a toe-crusher in quick succession. This however, was the turn of the tide in the visitors’ favour. Joe Root and Dom Sibley weathered the intial storm and started carving an invincible partnership that was enough to decimate the Indian hopes on Day 1.

With all said and done, there were a gazillion questions about Kuldeep Yadav not being enlisted for the first Test. Almost everyone knew that he was a certainty alongside Ashwin. Haplessly for the chinaman, India went with Shabaz Nadeem and Washington Sundar. Nadeem was hacked raw by the English batters as he conceded 69 runs in his quota of 20 overs without picking up a wicket.

In fact, luck never smiled on the Indian bowlers today as Bumrah and Ashwin were the only ones to have scalps next to their name. As the entire nation was fuming about the fact that why did Kuldeep didn’t get a chance, former English captain, Michael Vaughan chipped in with his share of ire.

The last time Kuldeep played a Test for India was in 2019 at Sydney where he ripped apart the Australian batting line-up into shreds. However, post that Yadav hasn’t been selected for playing red-ball cricket in Indian colours.

As Ajinkya Rahane and Bharat Arun previously stated that Kuldeep will get his playing time when the party arrives in India. Unfortunately, for Kuldeep that time is still to arrive when he gets his 7th Test match for India.

Taking to his Twitter account, Michael Vaughan tweeted, “Ridiculous decision by #India not to play @imkuldeep18 !!! If he isn’t going to play at home with the injuries they have when is he going to play !!! #INDvENG.”

Tomorrow’s action will be highly instrumental in shaping the outcome of the first Test and will also answer the question that was playing Nadeem over Kuldeep a savvy decision?
