Mohammed Shami has been a sensational fast bowler for India and in world cricket over the years. He has been a legendary bowler and has been a vital part of India’s playing XI in the longer formats. He is highest wicket-taker for the team in World Cup history. In the 2023 ODI World Cup, he picked up 24 wickets and became the leading wicket-taker in the edition.

He was responsible for leading the Indian team to the final of the World Cup without losing any game. However, he suffered and aggravated his foot injury and had to undergo Achilles tendon surgery after the World Cup. This has kept him away from cricket since then. He was not part of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 which Team India won.

With a lot of Test matches coming up and also the Border-Gavaskar Test series in Australia at the end of the team, Shami will be a vital asset for the team. So, the question that beckons: When will Shami be back in Indian colours?

Espn Cricinfo reports that the Indian team is hoping that Shami will make his comeback during the home Test series against Bangladesh. Shami is currently in his final stages of rehab at NCA.

This is definitely a good news for the Indian fans who are wiping for Shami to be back on the cricket field. Meanwhile, India lost the ODI series against Sri Lanka by a margin of 2-0. The batters found it extremely tough to play against the Sri Lankan spinners on a track that provided aid to the spinners. They will now have an adequate rest before the series against Bangladesh starts.
