Mohammed Shami Was Close To Committing Suicide

Mohammed Shami has been one of the best pacers in the world in the last 5-6 years. He has been sensational in ODI and Test cricket for India. Shami finished as the leading wicket-taker in the ODI World Cup 2023 with 24 wickets in his bag and played a crucial role in India’s qualification for the final of the tournament. However, he aggravated his foot injury after the World Cup and had to undergo a surgery. Since then, he has been out of cricket. He is planing to make his comeback in the Test series against Bangladesh.

Shami has always enthralled the fans and analysts with his perfect seam presentation. He has got the pace to trouble batters and can swing the ball both sides. Shami also possesses a good bouncer to trouble the batters. However, he has had to face some dark times or phase in his career.

BCCI had launched an investigation regarding some match-fixing allegations involving Mohammed Shami against Pakistan. His close friend has revealed that Shami was heartbroken at that moment and also wanted to commit suicide.

His estranged wife Hasin Jahan, alleged that Shami was taking money from Pakistani woman to fix matches against Pakistan. His wife also registered a complain about domestic violence.

“Shami was fighting with everything during that phase. It also came in the news that he wanted to do something drastic that night [end his life]. It was around 4 AM in the morning when I got up to drink water. I was on my way to the kitchen when I saw that he was standing on the balcony. It was the 19th floor we were living in. I understood what happened” Umesh said on Shubhankar Mishra’s podcast.
