Mohammed Siraj Makes A Dream Start To His County Cricket Career

While all the focus of the Indian fans has shifted towards the upcoming T20 World cup 2022, India’s fast bowling sensation Mohammed Siraj is honing his skills in the County Championship for Warwickshire. The 28-year-old pacer has impressed one and all with his stunning debut for Warwickshire in a game against Somerset in County Championship Division One in Birmingham.

Siraj picked five for 82 on his County Championship debut as he ran through Somerset’s batting line-up. He picked the wickets of Iman-ul-Haq, George Bartlett, James Rew, Lewis Gregory, and Josh Davey to bowl Somerset out for 219 in 65.4 overs.

Pakistan opener Imam-ul-Haq became Siraj’s first-ever wicket in the County Championship as he managed an outside edge straight to the wicket-keeper. Somerset were 17/1 in the first lengthy rain delay during the match. Siraj then dismissed George Bartlett and wicket-keeper James Rew on back-to-back deliveries, to put his side on the driving seat. However, Lewis Gregory took control over the game with his knock of unbeaten 60 off 93 but Siraj had some other plans. Gregory became Siraj’s fourth wicket that hurt Somerset the most. His last wicket was Josh Davey, Siraj’s compatriot Jayant Yadav picked one for 42.

Meanwhile, fans on social media hailed the performance of Siraj on his county debut. Check out the reactions of fans to it:

Recently, Siraj said that he was consciously looking to improve his consistency with his line and length, rather than thinking about wickets. He had said: “In West Indies and England also I bowled well, my rhythm was good in the first match as well, so my plan was to hit an area consistently without worrying whether I will get wickets or not,”
