MS Dhoni made a strong statement by saying that the team hardly ever focuses on where they are standing at the points table in the Indian Premier League. His remarks came following CSK suffered a four-wicket defeat by Mumbai Indians at Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium in Delhi.

Riding on the performance of Ambati Rayudu’s powerful knock of 72 runs, CSK posted a competitive target of 219 runs for Mumbai Indians to chase. However, Kieron Pollard changed the fate of the game as he smashed a powerful knock of 87* runs in 34 balls to take his team to victory.

After the match, talking on Star Sports in the post-match presentation, MS Dhoni was asked his thoughts on how the defeat would affect the points table. Responding to this, Dhoni said that in IPL, a team wins few games and loses a few games. He insisted that his team doesn’t focus too much n the Indian Premier League 2021 points table and take things one game at a time. He said:

“In a tournament like this, you will win and lose a few close games. When you are under the pump, you learn a lot,”

He added:

“Irrespective where we are in the points table, we take one game at a time. We hardly ever focus where we are standing on the table. That has been our good point along the way,”

Meanwhile, this was Chennai Super Kings’ second defeat in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League. They were previously defeated by Delhi Capitals. Talking about their position in the points table, CSK is still sitting at the top of the points table.
