MS Dhoni created history as he became the most successful captain in the Indian Premier League history. He led his team Chennai Super Kings to their ‘record-equaling’ fifth title in the Indian Premier League by defeating Gujarat Titans in the final clash by 5 wickets.
It was a remarkable comeback for the Yellow Army, who finished 9th on the points table in the previous season of the IPL. It was also a fairytale season for Chennai Super Kings as wherever they went for the game, throughout the season, they witnessed a sea of yellow as everyone believed that it was the last time MS Dhoni was playing in the Indian Premier League.
MS Dhoni Was In Unimaginable Pain

MS Dhoni once again vowed to his fans with his remarkable captaincy, his few but crucial cameos, and his lightning-fast wicket-keeping skills but he played the whole season through a knee injury.
Throughout the season, MS Dhoni was seen struggling with his knee. He was seen limping, struggling to get in and out of the team bus, and running in between the wickets. He was always seen with an ice pack or a strap band tied tightly around his knee.
In the IPL 2023 final match as well, Dhoni was seen strapping his knee extensively before coming out to bat. Dhoni might have gotten out on the first ball he faced, in the crucial game, against Mohit Sharma, however, his dedication to the game of cricket has left everyone in awe.
Recently, an unseen video from the dressing room during the final match has gone insanely viral on the internet and fans just can’t get over him.
Despite dealing with so much pain, Dhoni has mentioned that he will return to the IPL in the next season as a gift for him to the fans. He had said:
“Looking for an answer? (He asks Harsha Bhogle after the latter asks him about his legacy) This is the best time to announce my retirement. But the amount of love I have received all over. The easy thing would be to walk away from here, but the harder thing would be working hard for 9 months and try to play another IPL. It would be a gift from me, won’t be easy on the body. You do get emotional, the first game at CSK everyone was chanting my name. My eyes were full of water, I needed to take some time off in the dugout. I realised I need to enjoy this,”
