Playing in his 300th ODI match, MS Dhoni scored unbeaten 49 runs and once again provided the perfect finish to India’s innings, along with Manish Pandey who scored 50*.

After India lost an early wicket in the fourth match of the ongoing ODI series, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma batted brilliantly and formed a huge partnership for the second wicket. Virat was the more aggressive batter in the partnership, but Rohit also kept the momentum going by scoring boundaries at regular intervals.

Over the years, we have seen MS Dhoni finish ODI matches for India with his bat. Many cricket pundits and fans across the world believe that MS Dhoni is the best finisher in the history of ODI cricket. And, the numbers are on his side, too.

In the fourth ODI against Sri Lanka, MS Dhoni remained not out o 49 runs at the end of the innings. And, this was his 73rd not out in 300 matches. Before this innings, he was jointly tied with Shaun Pollock with 72 not outs, but with this unbeaten innings, he has become the batsman with most number of not outs in ODI cricket.

We can see in the list shared below that MS Dhoni is the only Indian batsman in this list. Also, Dhoni (101.84) has the best average in successful ODI run chases. In fact, MS Dhoni is the only batsman in the history of ODI cricket to average 100 in successful chases (minimum 1000 runs).
