A hilarious incident occurred during the World Cup 2023 match between Bangladesh and Afghanistan in Dharamsala on Saturday involving Mujeeb Ur Rahman as he forgot to wear his abdomen guard and later a substitute fielder came out with the equipment.

The HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala hosted this encounter between Bangladesh and Afghanistan and both teams kicked off their respective World Cup campaigns. Shakib Al Hasan’s team emerged victorious in a largely one-sided affair by 6 wickets.

Mujeeb Ur Rahman came out to bat in the 35th over of Afghanistan’s innings. However, he soon realized that he’d come in the middle without wearing his abdomen guard. It took a while for him to signal it to the dressing room and the substitute fielder came out with the abdo guard.

This stoppage confused the commentators before Simon Doull realized what was going on with Mujeeb Ur Rahman. Doull had a big laugh while doing commentary on this incident. The video of this incident went viral.

Fans too came up with hilarious memes and tweet on Mujeeb Ur Rahman:

Talking about ther game, Bangladesh recorded a 6-wicket win and opened their account in the World Cup 2023. Mehidy Hasan Miraz continued his rise on the world stage. He picked 3 wickets, and so did Shakib Al Hasan, the Bangladesh captain. Miraz then scored 57 runs in the chase of a small target of 156 runs.

Afghanistan only managed 155 runs as they collapsed from 112/2 to 155 all-out. Shakib and Miraz took three wickets each while Shoriful Islam took two wickets. Afghanistan started well with the ball, taking two wickets for 27 runs, but half-centuries from Miraz and Shanto took Bangladesh home safely.

Player of the match Miraz said: “It’s a great moment for me, I’ve done a lot of hard work in the past. Credit to the team management because they believed in me. I was a bit cautious, the captain told me to bowl in the right areas. He told me to be consistent and to focus on my own performance so credit to the captain. I took it ball by ball, didn’t look at the runs. Wicket was turning a bit, I just tried to play straight. I’ve always batted at no.8 so a great moment for me to bat at the top of the order. They tried me at the top of the order in the last few matches and it’s a great moment for me.”
