Afghanistan spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman shared an emotional moment with a young boy following Afghanistan’s stunning victory over England in their World Cup 2023 encounter in Delhi.

This victory by Afghanistan is being hailed as one of the biggest-ever upsets in cricket history; this was Afghanistan’s only second win in their entire ODI World Cup history, with their first win coming back in 2015 against Scotland.

Mujeeb Ur Rahman played a key role for his team with both bat and ball: he scored 28 runs in 16 balls and then returned with brilliant figures of 10-1-51-3, which included the wickets of Joe Root, Harry Brook, and Chris Woakes.

After recording a historic win by 69 runs, Mujeeb Ur Rahman was hugged by a young boy who cried due to overflowing of emotions.

It’s not Afghani boy it’s one young Indian boy so happy: Mujeeb Ur Rahman

Many fans on social media thought that that kid was an Afghanistani. However, the spinner himself has revealed that this young kid is an Indian, and he supports Afghanistan and was very emotional at Afghanistan’s landmark, memorable victory.

Taking to Twitter, Mujee Ur Rahman tweeted: “It’s not Afghani boy it’s one young Indian boy so happy for ur win It was an absolute pleasure meeting this little guy from India Delhi last night (Cricket is not just a game it’s an emotion) Big thank you to all our amazing fans for coming down and supporting us last night the love and support is overwhelming.

“We are grateful for your continuous support and we can’t wait for you to keep supporting us in the future thanks for love Delhi,” he added.

Bagging the Player of the Match award, Mujeeb Ur Rahman said: ‘Very proud moment to be here in the World Cup and beating the champions. It’s a great achievement for the whole team, we worked hard for this day. We beat such a big team. It was a wonderful performance from the bowlers and the batters. As a spinner, it’s pretty hard to bowl in the powerplay, you have only two fielders outside.’
